Postmaster’s Office

Heritage Hall  |

This exhibit explores the Museum’s historic 1898 Post Office-Customs House Building. Stand in the original Postmaster’s Office and learn about the building’s early design plans and construction. This architecturally astounding facility was built in the late 19th century as a Federal Post Office and Customs House to handle the large volume of foreign mail coming up the river from the city’s international trade in tobacco.
