This exhibit explores the Museum’s historic 1898 Post Office-Customs House Building. Stand in the original Postmaster’s Office and learn about the building’s early design plans and construction. This architecturally astounding facility was built in the late 19^th century as a Federal Post Office and Customs House to handle the large volume of foreign mail coming up the river from the city’s international trade in tobacco.
