Calling All Artisans! Become a Vendor at Seasons: The Museum Store

Written by Meghan E. Gattignolo

A trip to the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is never complete without a stop at Seasons: The Museum Store. Looking for a treasure to take home after a memorable visit is its own satisfying venture. Sometimes you can even find a piece by an artist whose exhibit you came to the Museum to see, and often have the opportunity to buy a smaller piece of their work. Many local artists and artisans are also vendors in Seasons, making the Museum store a unique place to find one-of-a-kind works of art in a variety of mediums. Are you a local artisan with work to sell? Store Manager Laura Rone would love to talk to you about your beautiful and unique creations.

Pottery

Can you turn lumps of earth into fascinating figures? Laura is looking to add to the diverse pottery selection at Seasons. Pottery has been a popular staple in the store for years with work by local artists like Brigitta Dixon, Lauren Martin and Nashville artist David Heustess, and the store is on the lookout for more ceramic specialties to grace the shelves.

Jewelry

Just about everyone checks out the jewelry case before leaving Seasons. It’s right next to the checkout counter, so it’s impossible to leave without a glance. Jewelry making is a special artform, and these pieces are highly sought-after gifts. Long-time local vendors Heidi Teague, Hilda Walker and Freshie and Zero offer beautiful jewelry options, and there is always room for more!

Metalwork

Metal can be twisted into useful pieces of art around the home, whether that be a hook or candlestick holder. Ray Spiller’s work has been a store favorite for a long time, and Laura would love to feature more creative metal works. Do you love shaping metal into cool new objects?  Call Laura today!

Local Authors

Visitors to the Museum are the kind of people who appreciate art and culture – and likewise, a good book. Laura wants to connect with local authors, both fiction and nonfiction alike. We already offer an eclectic collection of choices, and we’re sure your publication will look great on the shelves at Seasons, too.

So, if you or someone you know is creating great art and looking for a place to sell it, set up a meeting with Laura Rone today. Send her an email at lrone@customshousehousemuseum.org. She’s excited to hear from you!

Stop by Seasons: The Museum Store and take advantage of their monthly sales! Just in time for Valentine’s Day, all jewelry is 15% off in the month of February – 25% off for Museum members! Store hours are the same as the Museum’s hours: 10am-5pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1pm-5pm on Sundays. Seasons: The Museum Store is closed every Monday.
