The Montgomery County Archives is celebrating Archives Month this October! There are three remaining events that the Archives invites patrons to attend.
An Open House takes place from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 18. The Archives will be hosting tours throughout the day.
During the first hour of the Open House on October 18, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., we will introduce the Montgomery County African American Oral History Project.
Montgomery County African American Oral History Project

The Montgomery County African American Oral History Project began last year. As the Deputy County Historian, I have been interviewing African American Clarksvillians about their history. I have been working with Sarah Fry, Director of the Montgomery County Archives, as well as members of Mt. Olive Cemetery Historical Preservation Society members including Terry Morris, Director of the Clarksville Montgomery County African American Legacy Trail, and filmmaker Demetrius Hnarakis. We have interviewed Carr Johnson, Vester Carney, Tony Eldridge, Hoover Eldridge, James Halford II, Yvonne Kendall, and Jamilla Brown. Register here to sign up for the talk.
Photograph Preservation Class

The Montgomery County Archives is also offering a Photograph Preservation Class from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22. The archives will walk you through the do’s and don’ts of photograph preservation. Register here
