Join filmmakers Karen Bullis and Kathy Lee Heuston for the debut screening of the short film “Tennessee Triumph: Making a Monument” at 6 p.m. on June 3. The documentary follows the creation of the local monument, Tennessee Triumph, which celebrates the passage of the 19th Amendment, extending voting rights to women. The film features interviews with Clarksville women working behind-the-scenes to make this sculpture happen, including Ellen Kanervo, Rosalind Kurita, Khandra Smalley, Brenda Harper, Melissa Miller and Martha Pile, as well as then nine-year-old Margaux Silvey, who raised $1,000 to help fund the monument. It also shares scenes with sculptor Roy W. Butler in Alpine, Utah shaping the clay, Gary Streadbeck breaking down the fascinating process of fabricating a bronze statue and local architect Pam Powell explaining the design and construction of the base.
