October 30 - Deadline for entries December 7 - Notification mailed to artists January 2 through 7 - Delivery of shipped works January 6 through 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Hand-delivered works accepted January 19 - 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. - Awards Reception at the Customs House Museum April 11 - Show closes April 12 through 14, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Works may be picked up April 18 - Shipped works returned
MEDIA, ELIGIBILITY & SPECIFICS Open to all artists 18 years of age and older who reside in Tennessee. All work must be original, have been completed in the past two years and not previously exhibited at the Customs House Museum. Work done in a classroom or workshop is not eligible.
Crafts - works done in wood, glass, fiber, ceramic or metal.
Visual Arts - works done in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pen & ink, charcoal, photography or mixed media. Manipulation of digital images other than minor color and light correction is not allowed.
Framing and Size - All 2-D work must be wired for hanging and may not exceed 48" x 48" in size, including frame (if any). All matting must be white or off white in color.
3-D work may not weigh more than 100 pounds nor measure more than 6 feet in any direction.
SHIPPING, INSURANCE & LIABILITY Shipping costs are the sole responsibility of the artist. Shipped works must be shipped PRE-PAID and must include adequate return postage. Your signature on the entry form constitutes agreement by the entrant that there shall be no liability on the part of the Customs House Museum or its staff for loss, damage or destruction of any works during the calendar period, including transportation. Insurance of artwork is the sole responsibility of the participating artist. The Museum will take all reasonable care when handling works.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Entry by digital images on CD. No slides, prints or e-mailed images will be accepted. One image per 2-D work. 3-D work may be represented with two images.
Please include the following:
- Completed entry form (make a copy for yourself before you mail it) - Entry fee made out to the Customs House Museum (non-refundable) - SASE with sufficient postage for return of image CD - Digital images on CD of submitted work. One image per 2-D work. 3-D work may be represented with two images.
All digital images must be formatted as JPEGs (highest quality) with a resolution of 300 dpi and no bigger than 2000 pixels on the longest dimension. Image files should be named with artist's last name, first initial and number corresponding to identification list on entry form. Example: Doe_J_1. Label CD with name and date in permanent ink.
Submissions which do not include all of the required materials will be deemed incomplete and will not be considered. Accepted works must be the same as those shown on the digital image CD. No substitutions will be allowed.
SELECTION Works will be selected by the jurors from the digital image CDs. Entries are pre-screened by the Customs House Museum and evaluated for adherence to the submission criteria. Final selection is at the discretion of the jurors. No changes may be made to pricing or other information after artwork is accepted. Accepted works may not be withdrawn before the close of the exhibit.
Important: Information to appear on title cards and in the exhibition gallery guide is taken directly from the entry form. Images for publication are taken directly from the submitted CD.
